Self Portrait of a Woman In Process - Limited Edition Art Print

This bold portrait explores the relationship between human adornment and natural forms. It also speaks to the idea of being a divine being in an alien environment, connected to cultural diasporic ideas of feeling out of place.

The portrait is derived from transformed photographic images of my original sculpture "Goddess," which was created from glass and metal wool. The distinctive green facial tones incorporate textures from leaf veins and moss to evoke the nervous system, while the orange-gold Bantu knots echo patterns found in seed pods and natural spirals. 

Set against a rich red background textured with patterns from bark and earth, this piece speaks to the profound connection between cultural heritage, the beauty of Black women's hair artistry, and our human nature and sensitivity.

Each print is individually signed and printed on acid-free fine art paper with archival quality inks.
